The Cerex Shepherd FTIR is a real time portable multi-gas analyzer solution for PPB to PPM level anesthetic gas monitoring and monitoring of hospital environment compounds of concern.

Using proven Cerex technology, the Shepherd FTIR measures low PPB concentrations of individual gas compounds in real time. Operation is simplified to zeroing with clean or zero-air, and begin monitoring. Integrated data logging of concentrations of individual gas species in .csv file format provides ease of data manipulation and import into databases. Recorded raw spectral files provide a permanent record of gases in the sample, are independent of calibration, and may be used at any time to verify real time measurements.

Standard Hospital Gas Library

In addition to anesthetic agents, the Shepherd FTIR standard Hospital Gas Library allows for PPB level detection of a variety of chemical compounds. Gases may be added to the Hospital Gas library, or the entire library may be changed for a different library at any time.

Consumables

The Shepherd FTIR utilizes a closed cycle Stirling engine to cool the MCT detector to 77K. This provides the broadband spectral sensitivity of a liquid nitrogen cooled FTIR, but without the need to handle LN2. The Stirling engine has a 20,000 hour MTTF. Upon exhaustion return the analyzer to Cerex for refurbishment of the Stirling engine and renewal of warranty. Other consumables include sample filters, which are replaced in the field based on site conditions, and the IR source, which is also field replaceable and has a service life in excess of five years.
